Workshop 2: Embody your LLM in NAO Learn how to drive NAO's speech and movements with a LLM

  • Moderator: Emile Kroeger
  • Time:
                -Friday, 19th July: 10:00 - 12:00 and 16:00 - 18:00
                -Saturday, 20th July: 13:30 - 15:30
  • Location: Fontys Building – New Era – Science Festival
  • Age: Starting from 15 years old - No programming experience is required

Description:

Robotics and AI are two of the most discussed topics in the industry today, particularly in the context of large language models like GPT-3. In this workshop, we will demonstrate how to integrate these elements into NAO. We will gradually increase the complexity of the system:

  • Transform NAO into a scripted chatbot
  • Convert NAO into an LLM-powered chatbot ("Talk to ChatGPT")
  • Enhance NAO's capabilities beyond speech: walking, joint control, and animation playback
  •  Augment NAO's inputs beyond verbal commands: time, touch, and more

The workshop will cover these applications and more, including a demonstration of how to create dialogues with NAO (with or without AI), as well as discussions on the use of these tools in educational and research contexts. Gain insight into how to make NAO a fully GPT-powered interactive robot for real-world applications.

Topics Covered:

  • Discovering AI and exploring the potential of language models in conversational agents, including understanding the difference between a "scripted" agent and one using an LLM.
  • Using AI to design a social robot to meet specific needs, such as information kiosks, surveys, satisfaction questionnaires, and orientation.
  • Studying human-robot interaction, including collecting interaction data to study dialogues with or without AI.
