Kevin. Baxter. Sawyer. This isn’t what you’d typically expect to name a robot. But for the United Robot Group (URG), lab automation success and failure often boils down to just that: a name.

Aldebaran, a former French gem that passed through the hands of the Japanese Softbank before being bought by the German United Robotics Group , is refining its strategy.

The first Nao robots were marketed in 2008 by the German brand United Robotics Group. Six generations of robots have followed one another and 15,000 units have been sold.

United Robotics Group said uLink is is available with an integrated development environment (IDE), software development kit (SDK), and fleet management tools. The company said it is its “first cobiot with an open API, increasing connectivity and flexibility.”
