Paris, 28 June 2023 – United Robotics Group, the European leader in service robotics, will sponsor RoboCup 2023, taking place in Bordeaux, France from July 4-10. RoboCup is the world’s largest robotics and artificial intelligence competition. For the second year in a row under the United Robotics Group name, after the acquisition of Aldebaran Robotics, the company will support the soccer and @home competitions and provide onsite maintenance and education workshops presenting new programming capacities.

The company’s emblematic NAO robot, used in engineering and STEM programs schools and universities around the world will feature prominently in the Soccer Standard Major League. Pepper, the well-known humanoid robot, is set to captivate attendees in the @Home Social Standard challenge with its innovative domestic applications.

United Robotics Group developers and engineers will participate in the July 6 and 7 NAIA.R conference taking place at the Bordeaux Parc des Expositions, adjacent to the competition. The event will focus on the place of artificial intelligence in robotics, and the United Robotics team will share experiences on how they have integrated generative AI solutions into their robots and the questions and opportunities this technology presents.

“We are proud to be back at the RoboCup event this year and discover the new applications and codes students around the world are using to compete with our NAO robots,” explains Thomas Linkenheil, co-CEO of United Robotics Group. “This past year has brought us exciting new technological applications, particularly in artificial intelligence. At United Robotics Group, it’s a topic that both motivates us to develop new solutions and inspires us to imagine an ethical application of AI.”

Inspiring young generations of robotics experts

More than 55 teams from around the world will compete in the soccer challenges on July 6-9. Teams are composed of professors, undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers, engineers, and alumni and focus on coding language capable of making the robots play soccer autonomously. This year, ten teams from France will participate in the competition.

As the largest robotics challenge event in the world, RoboCup is an ideal platform for United Robotics Group to present new applications for their educational robots, NAO and Pepper. On July 6, the company will organize a presentation on their stand in the exhibition center as well as hands-on workshops in the event’s Educamp station to demonstrate the applications in action.

It's exciting to see so many passionate participants come together at RoboCup, share experiences and get inspired to launch their careers in the field of robotics,” said Thomas Linkenheil. “As we continue to develop new robots and CobiotX solutions that will change the way we work for the better, it’s important to train and attract talent that will push us forward, challenge us and inspire is to continue this journey.”

In a bid to attract the best talent and inspire future innovators, United Robotics Group will be offering 30 job openings across its entities globally in France, Germany, Spain, and United States.  This serves as an exciting opportunity for potential candidates to learn more about URG and explore a rewarding career in service robotics.
